Borawan, Padre Burgos, Quezon
We decided to spend our Good Friday in a not so famous but very beautiful island. We had a lot of good time dipping in the clear water under the heat of the summer sun. I initially had a hard time researching on the internet on finding Borawan since it was a virgin island and it was only a few days ago that it was officially opened to the public.
Borawan is situated in the town of Padre Burgos, Quezon. We left Manila at around 5:00 in the morning riding a bus from Cubao heading to Lucena. We transferred bus from the Grand Terminal to ride a bus heading for Padre Burgos. From the town proper we rode a tricycle going to Tamarind Tree. We first planned on staying in the Tamarind Tree Beach Resort only to find out that they are already fully booked. We then asked if its ok to have a ride going to Borawan island using their boat and they agreed.
We arrived in the island at around 9:00am. We asked Mang Tonyo, the captain of the boat to fetch us at 3:30pm in time to catch the bus going back to Lucena terminal. The last trip going back to the Lucena station is at 5:30pm, so we had some buffer just to be sure.
Though the Island is still under the process of being developed, it is a very beautiful place in itself. White sand surround the island. For those who plans to stay overnight, you can bring your own tent or to have a cottage. There are two kinds of cottages available. There’s the floating cottage and the bahay kubo like cottage at the beach. You can also bring food and cook them at the island orhave a feast of fresh marine bodies, roasted chicked or whatever you desire with a side dish of fruits and vegetables.
As of now, I’m all tanned since I enjoyed the place so much. I am writing this entry for those who wants to have a good time in Quezon. Believe me, its such a beautiful place and also consider its accessibility within the reach of Metro Manila.

Ok, If you are to have a boat ride from Tamarind Tree Beach, it will cost you 700. Its already a tour on the island and back. While if you have a boat ride on the near barangay, it will only cost you around 500. Hope it helps.

Good for one family yung bangka.. yung sa tamarind beach meron na mga life vest..di ko lang alam sa ibang barangay.

sabihin niyo na lang bangka papuntang Borawan.. sa palengke kayo dadalhin ng trike.. yung 1500..pang cottage yun.. kung may sarili ka na tent di ko lang sure kung papagamitin kayo ng fresh water nila kasi isa lang ang may ari dun..

hello. Nice pics. Because of this im planning to bring my team to padre burgos this august. What im afraid of isto get there without a place to stay at. Are there other small resorts on the main land that we can rent for 2 nights. Were you able to see some resorts for rent? aside from tamarind tree.

The Borawan island is available.. there are about 4 cottages there.. You can also have tents set up on the place

Thank you for posting some great pictures of Borawan and for featuring my hometown Padre Burgos Quezon. Our place is just beside Tamarind Tree and we’re still in the planning stage of our resort.This will be a big help to boost tourism and eventually the economy of our town. There were no sari sari stores there the last time I was there. But there’s a hut that sells different dishes.

we went there a year ago. There were few people around and only about 3 cottages (if I remember correctly) plus the floating cottage. 🙂

Hi ! We were in Borawan last Sunday (Mar21), left Mla 430am got there before 9am. We left the island 3pm and had a side trip at the now famous Luminous Cross of Grace Sanctuary Agdangan Quezon— 20min drive from P.Burgos. It was a day full of fun and adventure.
Here’s some info if you want to reserve a cottage:
Mr.Otoy Fernandez (boat owner) 0921 577 7075 he will then contact Susan (caretaker of the cottages)
Take note: NO electricity/shower/decent comfort room. Expect a makeshift cottages and CR. If you opt to stay overnight bring potable water,tent,r.lamps,meds etc.
Boat rental : Php 600 (8-10pax)
Life vest rental: Php 5 (each)
Parking fee : Php 50 ( or any amt per vehicle)
We rented a boat at the “pantalan” or pier. It includes a round tour of the island.

Silangang Nayon, Pagbilao Quezon (next to Lucena) so it will take you 45mins going to Tamarind Tree.

Hi my friends and I have been looking for an island to visit,,if you are planning to camp overnyt the boat will fetch you in the morning ba? im confused if there are huts/rooms in the island itself and how much it will cost..thanks!!

hi plan to go to a beach like this and surprise my wife, got info while reading. the fare (bus, boat and parking) and the place (no electricity but has CR) but i would also like to know is how does the cottage look like? good for how many person and how many rooms in a cottage? also is there snorkling, trekking, fishing, etc that we can do in the island? and are there any other beach besides borawan? just an alternative just in case there is no cottage available. please give additional info. thanks much.

so there were 3 cottages and you could actually fit in around 4 people on a single cottage. You could ask the bangkeros to get you on other islands of Padre Burgos.

The area where Tamarind Tree is located at is Brgy Basiao, mdami entries doon not just the resort. .It is easier to rent a boat and get a good deal at the port area or pantalan (malapit sa market), just as you enter Padre Burgos turn right. .

Thanks for featuring the island of Borawan..It definitely help the tourism industry of our municipality as well as our locals..You are all welcome to visit and we apologize for some inconvenience that the others experience when they visited Padre Burgos but no doubt you will enjoy your stay here..
